About Varicose Veins
As with spider veins, varicose veins are no longer functional veins, so removing them will not cause damage to the circulatory system. Varicose veins tend to be larger than spider veins, and appear raised from the skin as well as twisted or bulging. Varicose veins will be more dark purple or blue in color and are most common on the back of the calves or the inside of the leg. These veins can become enlarged and quite painful over time and can cause the legs and feet to swell.
The Methods of Varicose Vein Removal
Less severe cases of varicose veins may be treatable through sclerotherapy, which is also one of the more popular treatments for spider veins. However, surgical varicose vein removal is also available. There are two stand-out methods of surgical varicose vein removal.
Surgical ligation and stripping is when the varicose vein is capped off and removed from the leg completely. Because these veins are superficial and nonfunctional, their removal will not affect blood flow throughout the body. This surgery would require local or general anesthetic and is done on an outpatient basis.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy is another surgical option that involves using a special light source to locate the vein, small incisions are made in the vein and the vein is surgically removed from the leg. Some physicians feel this method is best when attempting to remove the largest varicose veins, as it leaves only small scarring. This surgery is also performed under local or general anesthetic.

Everyone was very competent and friendly. The waiting time was normal. I'm not sure just yet. Time will tell if all signs of the varicose veins will disappear.
