Laser Vein Removal

Laser technology has become a routine part of modern aesthetic medicine and every major medical facility in the world utilizes advanced laser treatments on a daily basis. Today, lasers are being used to remove unwanted hair, cure acne, tighten skin, and to target spider veins and varicose veins. Laser vein therapy is a great non-surgical alternative to invasive vein removal surgeries such as ambulatory phlebectomy and vein stripping. Surgical vein procedures require hospital stays, and often result in painful recoveries and possible scarring. Lasers offer effective varicose vein solutions with minimal pain involved and no downtime. Laser vein treatments can be broken down into two categories: Laser Vein Removal and Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT).

Laser Vein Removal (IPL)

Laser Vein Removal is the safest and easiest vein solution available on the market. Most Laser Vein Removal treatments are performed with lasers or Intense Pulsed Light, similar to IPL Photofacial. No incisions or needles are needed! The specific wavelength of light produced by Laser Vein Removal targets the hemoglobin in your blood vessels. As your blood vessel absorb the light, your unwanted vein is destroyed and harmlessly fades into your body. Laser Vein Removal works for both varicose veins and spider veins, however, these treatments work best on spider veins. Laser treatments for spider veins are so effective because spider veins are closer to your skin’s surface, an area that light-based treatments will safely and effectively treat. Laser Vein Removal is gentle enough to work on facial veins and powerful enough to work on smaller leg veinsleg veins. Since Sclerotherapy presents a small risk of scarring, Laser Vein Removal is usually used for facial veins. Like most IPL and laser procedures, patients who undergo laser vein treatments experience a sensation similar to being snapped with a rubber band. However, most vein treatment centers and medical spas use laser handpieces with cooling systems to keep your discomfort to a minimum.

Endovenous Laser Treatments

Endovenous Laser Treatments, also known as Catheter-assisted procedures, are the latest breakthrough in laser vein surgery. While Sclerotherapy and Laser Vein Removal are still popular for smaller spider veins, EVLT has all but replaced the need for invasive vein surgery for larger veins. This varicose vein laser treatment inserts a thin fiber (catheter) into your leg vein, and when the laser is fired, thermal energy destroys the venous tissue. The laser is fired continuously as the catheter is pulled from your varicose vein, thus causing a path of destruction to the unwanted vein. EVLT seals off veins much in the same way as Sclerotherapy, and healthy veins around the now closed vein will restore your leg’s normal blood flow. A varicose vein laser surgery like an Endovenous Laser Treatment is less invasive than regular vein surgery and has lower rate of complication. EVLT results are comparable to vein surgery, but since EVLT is so new, studies haven’t found exactly how long the effects should last.

Whether you’re looking for laser spider vein removal or a varicose vein laser treatment, modern medical spas and vein clinics have the laser vein treatment that will meet your needs.
